Questions people ask
- Why did a store email me after I visited without signing up?
- The store runs Opensend's pixel. When you load a page, the pixel matches your browser to an identity graph built from past sign-ups, data-broker lists and cookies, and hands the store your name and email. The store then emails you as if you had opted in.
- Is it legal to make Opensend delete my data?
- Yes. California residents have the right to delete (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.105) and to opt out of sale or sharing (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.120); Texas residents have equivalent rights under Tex. Bus. & Com. Code ch. 541 (Texas Data Privacy and Security Act); most other states with privacy laws grant the same. Many brokers honor requests from any US state as a matter of policy.
- How long does Opensend take?
- Opensend states 45 days.
- Will they come back?
- Often. Identity graphs are rebuilt from new data, so a deleted record can reappear months later. Re-filing every 90 days, and detecting when the pixel fires again, is what keeps you out.
